To start, you have to ask yourself who doesn't want to be wealthy, but the start for us probably began a few months ago over a few drinks at our local bar The Mill Tavern. This is where I call our first "real" discussion of things we want in life and how we are plan to get there. Now don't get me wrong, Nate and I had many conversations about our life and what we want, however, from that moment forward these conversations slowly began taking over our lazy idle time. Instead of sitting in front of the TV watching American Pickers, The First 48 (one of many crimes shows we enjoy), or simply turning on Netflix to find a new movie or an old classic to stream, we started doing less of our lazy idle time time and started taking ACTION. First we began by gathering books to read that will educate us financially and motivate us to continue.
The first book on our list to read was Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert T. Kiyosaki. Now there are many different view points about Robert Kiyosaki, but I can honestly say that I liked his book and this has helped me gain insight on how to start thinking about myself (financially) first, which has lead to my personal goal of paying myself first. To many this means your savings account, however, Robert forces people to think outside the box and to question the way you were taught all your life!
After finishing the book, we discussed the things we liked and ideas of Roberts that we question, before finally taking mental notes on the things we learned and how it will help us on our Cashflow Adventure!
Great start, Nate! I commend you for taking action. If you haven't read the Cash Flow Quadrant by Robert Kiyosaki, you may want to add that to your list as well.

Thanks Julie. That one is actually next on the list! I read Rich Dad Poor Dad years ago, but it wasn't until I had a partner in crime that things started to actually take shape. Melissa has played a huge part in getting my butt off the couch.
ReplyDeleteJulie, I'm glad you liked the most recent post, it's one of many to come! Please keep following as this too will keep us motivated! I tend to stay mysterious, when writing and using we and us, but this is a team adventure!
